Aurora High School Profile
Community
The Aurora Public School District is located in Hamilton
County in South Central Nebraska. It is a progressive community
of approximately 5,000 residents. The community is a rural
area with agricultural related businesses, and some commercial
development. The population is composed of people of all income
levels.
School System and High School
Aurora High School is the only high school in the city of
Aurora and is one of four high schools located in Hamilton
County. Aurora High school currently enrolls 301 students,
grades 10 through 12. There are 99 sophomores, 100 juniors
and the senior class of 2005 has 102 students. The faculty
includes 30 high school teachers, 1 guidance counselor, and
3 administrators.
Graduation Requirements
- 5 credit hours are issued for each semester of class work
successfully completed
- Minimum of 230 credit hours in grades 10-12 required
- English – 40 hours required
- Science – 20 hours required
- Biology – 10 hours required
- Math – 30 hours required
- Sophomores are assigned to a math class
- Social Studies – 30 hours required
- American History – 10 hours required
- American Government – 5 hours required
- Physical Education – 15 hours required
- Elective Credits – 95 hours required

Class rank is cumulative beginning the first semester of
the ninth grade: Classes are not weighted.
